July 20th 2004 - BOISE, Idaho – Boise Cascade Corp. turned a profit in the second quarter. Boosted by a sharp rise in sales from its December buyout of OfficeMax Inc. and a gain of 31 cents per share from selling its 47 percent interest in Voyageur Panel in May, the company posted income of $50.4 million, or 52 cents per share, compared with a loss of $3.9 million, or 12 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.
In the third quarter, the company said it expects to see sales growth in its office products and paper units, while a sales decline is anticipated from the building products unit from weaker prices at the end of the second quarter.
